Project Description

Our recent project at Building 1845, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas, involved a comprehensive mechanical system overhaul with detailed specifications. As a result of our efforts, Building 1845 now boasts a modernized mechanical system that enhances operational efficiency and sustainability. This project serves as a testament to our dedication to excellence and our position as leaders in construction and engineering.

We replaced the existing Trane chiller with a new model featuring factory-installed components such as a flow switch, strainer, freeze protection, and full refrigerant charge R-410A. Additionally, the new chiller included high ambient control, louvered hail guards, and a single-point power connection with a disconnect switch.

To accommodate the new chiller, we replaced existing piping, adhering to the manufacturer's recommended diagram, and insulated the new piping with fiberglass and metal jacketing. Valves, pressure gauges, and temperature gauges were also replaced as per the manufacturer's recommendations. We provided connections with valves to the chilled water pipes for temporary chiller use and ensured the new chiller had non-programmable replacement parts and PLC-driven functionality.

Modifications were made to the existing concrete pad to accommodate the new chiller. Additionally, we replaced the existing 10-ton air-cooled, self-contained air handling unit and condensing unit, along with the thermostat, refrigerant lines, and condensate drain. Finally, we reconnected existing electrical, controls, and chilled water pipes, ensuring compliance with local and state codes and standards throughout the project.
